Summit County saw increases in average and residential median prices for the first quarter of 2016, according to a regional economic update issued by the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG). According to the report, from Q1 2015 to Q1 2016, the median household price increased 16.4 percent in Summit (from $354,500 to $412,500).
Additional northwest Colorado counties observed various outcomes: Pitkin reported a 68.1-percent jump in the median household price, while Grand detected a 1.4-percent gain and Eagle observed a 14.3-percent drop.
The average household price in Summit leaped 9.1 percent, from $536,768 to $585,809. Meantime, the county additionally observed gains in the average household price per square foot, up 5.7 percent at $364.57 per square foot.
The report did produce some sound news, with a reduction in unemployment throughout the region. As of March 2016, Summit’s unemployment rate was down to 1.8 percent, from 2.6 percent in March of 2015.

SILVERTHORNE APPROVES PRELIMINARY SITE PLAN FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT
After a long conversation, Silverthorne Town Council authorized an introductory site plan to build 46 condominium units in five three-story buildings on Blue River Parkway. The water front condos, named Blue River Flats, were declared in during a Wednesday, June 22 town council meeting with the condition that a 25-foot pedestrian trail easement is incorporated along the river.
The plan would be developed on 2.32 acres of land on the west edge of the Blue River. Condos range from 900 square feet to just over 1,800.
