Thrilling news for Breck and Keystone resorts
Excited about this new winter season? The fresh snow and new adventures that await?
Breckenridge and Keystone resorts are already thinking ahead and planning your next season.
Sweeping capital improvements will take place both in Breckengidge and Keystone resorts for the winter season of 2017-2018. The Summit county properties declared in a joint announcement that upgrades will include major chairlift changes, as well as plans to renovate and expand on existing facilities.
Breckenridge
Newer and exciting changes coming to the second most popular ski resort in the nation. The Falcon SuperChair lift will be upgraded into a six-passenger chair increasing its capacity by 25 percent, improving skier and snowboarder movement while allowing guests to get more out of their day on the mountain. The lift is located on Peak 10 and services more advanced runs on the resort’s southern-most peak making it a popular spot for seasoned skiers and snowboarders looking for a fun yet challenging terrain. The lift is easily accessed from the Peak 9 base area and near by communities include Westridge Townhomes, Powderhorn Condos, Corral at Breckenridge, Warriors Mark West, Village Point Townhomes, and Tannenbaum by the River.
Keystone
Keystone’s Montezuma Express Lift is one of the main lifts on Dercum Mountain, attracting the intermediate and beginner crowd. The popular area features some of the best terrains and beginner-friendly runs in the entire state. The resort plans to replace the lift with a detachable six-passenger chair that will increase efficiency and capacity by up to 25 percent and that way offer skiers and borders greater flexibility, space and fun time.
Additional plans include the expansion of Labonte’s Smokehouse BBQ with a new, 150-seat indoor space for convenient, on-the-mountain dining. The restaurant is located at the base of Keystone’s North Peak and has always been a popular destination for any après ski dining experience imaginable. Nearby residential communities include Montezuma Condos, River Run, Silvermill, Timbers at Lone Eagle.
Although both resorts have seen major expansions and improvement over the past six years it is delighting to see that Vail Resorts, Inc., the properties’ parent company, is continuing to invest more resources into similar projects and raise the bar for skiers and riders across its resorts. Other significant projects include the new Peak 7 restaurant at Breckenridge, upgrades at the high-speed chairlift accessing Vail’s Back Bowls, and extended renovations at the Pines Lodge in Beaver Creek.
